Here I Go Again…..in Irish

 In May 2016 I travelled the entire coast of mainland Britain in 80 days, with my mothers ashes and driving a blue Ford KA streetcar called Gloria.  It was one of the best things I have ever done and I will possibly turn my adventures into a book once I’m in my dotage and too infirm to travel for real. 




However I am one of the most motion sick people I know so I didn’t travel across the Irish Sea to complete the adventure. 

In this my seventieth year, I intend to remedy that so on May 3rd 2022 I am flying from Gatwick to Shannon airport with few clothes and lots of art materials, to travel the coastline of Eire and Northern Ireland. 

I anticipate it will be beautiful, that I will meet fascinating people and that this trip too will prove to be a life highlight.

I’ve probably stayed in over 180 Airbnb  homes on my adventures and it can be a bit hit or miss unless you carefully read the information the host posts or choose not to read the reviews.  Earlier this week I stayed in a house where the point of Airbnb hosting was totally missed to the point of misinformation and setting up a false expectation.  Unlike the past  two days,  which couldn’t have been a more positive experience.  I was made to feel instantly at home and very much welcomed.  Cathy and Kate have a beautiful house within easy walking distance of Kilkenny City.  The rooms are unique and  beautifully furnished with carefully chosen much loved antiques. Cathy and her niece are dog rescuers and currently have eight so it helps if their guests like dogs. OMG-GOT

 On my birthday in February my beloved number two daughter gave me three vouchers towards my Irish adventure. One for the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, another for a restaurant in a forest (which I will redeem) tomorrow and best of all…drum roll…. The Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Banbridge about an hour south of Belfast.  You park at the reception which is on the far side of a shopping outlet.    This lovely team member meets and greets then you go by shuttle bus to the studio. It’s about a ten minute journey. Thanks to Jenny,  with whom I was in Art School in Scotland I have watched all 8 seasons, but even if you haven’t, it is  a wonderful celebration of the artistry, dedication and sheer skill of a huge group of artists from all over the World.
